We had an excellent Thanksgiving over at Grandpa Packards. We didn't go to Arkansas to my family's because of Liam, but I am sure we will make an appearance early next year.
Liam is getting some chunky cheeks (on his face - he still doesn't have much of a booty). And he is a big eater. I am starting to work out and so far, it is kicking my rear. Go turbo kick class!
Also, we got our family and baby pics done (Thanks Steph!!). Can I just say that they are cute, especially the pictures of Emalyn and Liam. We LOVE our family!!!!

BABY LIAM ARRIVES!! -- November 3rd, 2009

He was born at 10:39 p.m., after 19 hours of labor and 9 minutes of delivery. We called him the angry goblin when he came out because he looked kind of like a goblin and he was not happy. I don't blame him - coming into the world is a shocker I am sure. He is such a great baby though. We love his sweet and calm spirit. He does however fight the diaper change by playing froggy with his legs.
I can't believe this is our 3rd child!! Emalyn is so good with him. She always lights up when she sees him and pats him on the head and gives him kisses. I love watching her with him.

Hee Haw!!

Here's our fun adventure at Hee Haws. We had fun with Tasha, Ryan, and baby Kaden on the hay ride and getting hit by candy.
Emalyn was brave and rode the donkey even though she cried when she had to pretend to BE a donkey. Camri, Tracy, and baby Alexis joined us a little later, and the girls got to watch the boys do what boys do best - be silly. Doug and Tracy decided to go down the make-shift slide in potato sacks. Needless to say, Tracy hit a big bump and about took Doug out. Exciting times on the farm!!

We are back!! Actually we have been back in Utah for a month now but there is no place like home! The summer was good as well as Virginia. Roanoke was a nice place to live and was beautiful.
Emalyn seemed to grow from a baby to a little girl (even though she's still 'baby'). We were able to visit family on the way back home which was really nice! We went as a family to Brinley's grave which was memorable and sweet. Also, many of Doug's family had not seen Emalyn for several months so it was nice to reconnect. One of the first things we did when we got back was going camping. We found a gorgeous place in the Uinta Mountains and had all our gear. We had everything we needed and set up camp and were enjoying nature when the big, dark rain clouds rolled in. Emalyn headed for the tent and had fun inside while Doug stayed out in the steady rain with the fire. Needless to say he was hating life. Emalyn did turn into a little bit of a disaster once everything was muddy and she was falling all over the place. It was definitely a camping trip we will remember - an adventure!
We also recently went to "The Cabin" in New Mexico. We were able to spend some time with Doug's family and to see some wildlife. It was beautiful!!
Liam will be here sooner than later - November 8th is the due date but we will see. I am feeling like Liam is going to come out with a six-pack and be solid muscle because he can punch and kick!! Holy moly! However, this pregnancy has been like night and day compared to my last pregnancy so maybe we will have some more kids. :)
I am trying so hard to get my last two classes done before the little man comes and I don't know if I can get it done. I cannot wait to be graduated and to not have to worry about school on top of everything else anymore.
Doug is taking a few classes at BYU and just took a 4 day "Great Life" seminar. I think Doug enjoyed the comradeship (like usual) and enlightenment. I am glad to have him home again and glad for his more emotional connection. "Great Life" for life! hahaha!
PUMPKIN TIME!! We went to Aunt Ruth's and picked out our pumpkins on Sunday (10/11/09). Emalyn enjoyed sitting on a big one and then slid right off into a bed of rocks. Ouch! But she still likes her pumpkin - thankfully. I have decided that I will paint my belly orange and be a pumpkin for Halloween. :) (if I haven't 'popped' by then)

HaPpY BiRtHdAy EMALYN!! 1 year old! I cannot believe my little baby is not a little baby anymore. She is still my baby but my ONE year old baby. She is trying to stand up on her own and does a "stink bug crawl" (with her legs straight and butt in the air) more than a regular crawl. She is funny.
We had a big cook-out for her birthday on Sunday and prayers were answered that it would stop raining for it. Thank Heavens! We had it with all our friends from the office who were here (Virginia). Emalyn didn't pay too much attention to our singing due to the wildly exciting flame on her birthday candle. :) She was timid with her birthday cupcakes at first but then soon found them to be delightful (and messy). She started to whine after her hands were so sticky she couldn't do anything. Then she played rest of her day with her new toys and has been wearing her cute outfits all week. Happy Birthday Emalyn!
We like it here in Virginia. I love how green it is and all the trees. The weather is really nice too. Doug's team has slowly trickled in in the past 2 weeks and so hopefully things will start rolling more as these guys (and gal) get the hang of things. Doug has done amazing with his team, office, and his sales.
I started my internship with March of Dimes here in Roanoke last week. So far so good. I think I am going to have some really good experiences with educating people and relating to mothers and families with premature babies and lost babies. I don't know how I am going to get my online classes done. I haven't been very successful so far. Oh well!
By the way, we had an ultrasound before coming out to VA and there was ONE little baby in there. He/she was moving its little legs and arms all around. Updates as they come will be posted.

Happy Easter!! We had our own little Easter here at the house, and Emalyn loved her bunny (from Aunt Cristi) and her chocolate bar. She wore her adorable Easter dress, that Grandma Kaufman sent her, to church. I personally have not eaten so much candy in a very long time, but we had a good time. The day was a beautiful one and definitely made Easter that much more brilliant. We did miss our families though.
Well, the time draws nigh when we leave for Virginia. Only 1 week for Doug and just a few days later than that for me and the Em. Crazy! Things are certainly hectic around here with trying to get stuff organized for the summer, and preparing to move, and doing finals for school. Ahhh! But if we could do it before we can do it again, right?
Well, I will be finishing up school by the end of the summer and am so very excited. I will be doing my internship with March of Dimes in Roanoke and taking a couple of online classes over the summer. After completing this requirements then I am DONE! And it will be just in time too BECAUSE I am expecting on November 8th!! That's right. We are having our third little angel.

Snow or No Snow? Warm or Not Warm? Winter or Not Winter? Ahhh, Utah weather is so frustrating sometimes. It was nice to have a few warm days this past week. Emalyn, Kolbie, Janae, and I went for a walk around the blog to feel the warm sun. It was really nice until the wind about blew us to Oz. Emalyn is STILL working on the crawling thing. She is doing better but mostly going backwards. She actually went from scooting backwards on her tummy to doing the split to sitting up. She kind of has her own ideas of how things should be done. Another example, she rather fall asleep sitting up than laying down. (see picture)
Anyway, the semester is halfway over and I am so glad, even though it hasn't been as bad as anticipated. Doug goes to Colorado again this weekend to sell (imagin that!) and is doing really well managing so far. Go Doug Go!
My mom is coming the 1st of April and we are super excited to have Ma'ma here. She gets to stay for a whole week! Shout out to my Grandma who thought she was coming because I was pregnant. haha. Not up for that yet.
Viviane and I planned an awesome date for our husbands last Saturday. We surprised them and took them to the tree room up at Sundance. I have not laughed that hard in a long time. Super fun!

Here it is February 2009 and the first update of the new year. Ridiculous, I know. Happy New Year?! Well, we are still staying incredibly busy. I, Kara, am taking 12 credit hours in hopes to graduate either in August or December. Yea! Doug is taking a class, managing his team, and selling every other weekend (or every weekend). Emalyn is the cutest thing ever! She is 9 1/2 months, 26 inches long, and is 15 1/2 pounds. She is somewhat trying to figure out the crawling thing with not much success yet.
Well, the news is in and we will be going to Roanoke, Virginia for the summer. We are excited even though it's not quite as close to family as we had hoped. The experience will be great though. I am excited to have so many wives coming out even though I will be taking a couple online classes and babying my baby. Emalyn is always such a trooper though. We couldn't ask for a better sport.
Our family went to Las Vegas this last weekend and had a blast. We went with Doug's cousin and his wife and baby. It was good times all around. We got to eat some great buffet food and be amazed at the millions of dollars being tossed around. We also went to the Bodies Exhibit in the Luxor, where we stayed. The exhibit was truly amazing.
Happy late Valentine's Day!
